Healthy Kitty

Use & Fitting Program

We hope that you will enjoy using your Healthy Kitty Care Harness, as a tip we suggest (if possible) that you allow your cats an opportunity to smell and get to know your Care Harness before fitting them. We have found that leaving it in a place that your cats are comfortable and familiar with (for a couple of days) allows them to understand that it does not pose a threat. This is also an opportunity for your cats to scent mark your care harness (further reducing anxiety).
For very nervous cats we recommend a step by step approach to come after leaving it where they comfortably frequent. The step by step should start with an introduction without fitting, to be followed a couple of days later by lightly fitting without the main straps too tight (or the handle strapped).  Keeping a calm mood and using patience will help you both to achieve the best results. When assisting your cat to become acquainted with your care harness you should take great consideration of your cat's habits and daily routine. For example, if your cat is accustomed to sleeping at a certain hour, that may not be the time to start handling or grooming. That may upset your cat and make her more resistant than at other times. We should imagine ourselves being in the same situation as our cats. We recommend finding the times when your cat is liveliest and most receptive to being handled. Then at that time playing with them with their favorite toy until they are tired of playing. This is a great time to start the introduction and fitting process. We hope that you will use this advice and a bit of cat psychology for you and your cat's benefit.
It really pays off to think like a cat!
